Cyprus board gamers meeting, Thursday 31 January.

We are holding our meeting this week, again at the Ayioi Omologites Cultural Workshop.

I’ve asked myself many times in the past and also the present why we are persist with holding these meetings because they can really be hit and miss.

This Chrismas post on Opionionated Gamers, by Jeffrey D. Allers answers the why better than i can. Sadly i am not as altruistic as Jeffrey is. Although i like the idea of it, in practice i find it difficult to compromise on the games to play in order to accommodate other people. But i would like to get to where he is.

Video game

After, i don’t know how long, i finally played a game. Kentucky Route Zero is a point and click adventure game. Only Act I has been released so far but it’s worth a look. Very atmospheric, so better to play it with the lights out and headphones on.

Me before you

He stared a bit at my cutting in, fingered the blinds that i had put up myself, and put a hand on my shoulder. ‘This job has been the making of you’, Lou.

Me before you

“And as the days went by i realized that his condition was not just the matter of being stuck in that chair, of the loss of physical freedom, but a never-ending litany of indignities and health problems, of risks and discomforts…”

Exercise diary (1)

On Sunday, i went biking with a friend to the Athalassa park.

It was a fantastic day, cold, but not too cold and sunny. It was the kind of day i wanted 4-5 years ago when i was really at it. This time it was much calmer, easy going.

We biked for around 50mins which is not much but i struggled and felt pain in my right leg. It was the same pain that was at the initial stages 5 years ago. So, i am not too optimistic i can go back to it at all.

However, i loved the fact that we were out and about on a day like that. I need to find some outdoor sports or physical activities that take advantage of days like these.

If i feel the pain go away in the next couple of days i plan to go again this Sunday. Maybe take it easier as well i.e. more flat road and 30-40mins max. I will be keeping diary exercise records like this one which hopefully will motivate me.

Inversely correlated

For the past couple of weeks i have not come up with much to write about. When i say “much” i basically mean nothing apart from an easy going challenge for the “Try Something New for 30 Days” adventure (now listening to awesome classical solo piano music), some quotes and recommended articles here and there. Nothing that comes directly from me.

I have come to realise that when mood and health are improving my “creative” ability goes AWOL. On the contrary, feeling blue and in pain gives it the fuel it needs. If only i was a philosopher, writer or something along those lines. Maybe i would try and keep myself in the abyss for longer.
