Exploring music for 30 days

I mostly listen to the same genre of music and artists on a daily basis. Rock, some country and hip/hop and that’s about it for the most part.

In the next 30 days i will be well outside my tastes and comfort zone. Using internet radio applications, either on the phone, Pc or media player, i will only be listening to different genres and world music.

The Different Music for 30 days challenge started yesterday morning with Classical on BBC Radio 3 and surprisingly, i loved it.

A photo a day for 30 days challenge (the end)

Last Friday marked the end of the “A photo a day for 30 days challenge“.

It started on 31 October and it ended on 30 November (so technically, 31 days). I have made an album on Google+ which should be visible to all, even to non registered members.

Here’s the link.

P.S I have also written captions on each photo.

Day Thirteen (12/11/12) – One photo a day for 30 days

I was away last week and when i came back i found this! The trucks are still there but finally (finally!), the garbage is gone. Thank you Strovolos municipality, better late than never.

Day One (31/10/12) – One photo a day for 30 days

As you can see i live in a very classy neighborhood. This is the empty land plot opposite my flat. It is used as a parking lot for trucks and passenger vehicles but also works great as a garbage disposal facility.

A photo a day for 30 days challenge

This will be the first challenge. To take at least one photo a day for 30 days.

I’ve started with something relatively easy and safe whereas the most interesting to me was to write a novel in 30 days. The upside with this challenge is that it might force me to use the DSLR that’s been gathering dust for the past few months. I will also be using my phone’s camera of course.

The challenge began already and i took my first daily photo last week, on the 31st of October. I will not be posting them daily although i will post all of them at the end of the challenge.

Today feels too much like yesterday

I need. No. I want to add some variety in my life. Today seems too similar to yesterday all too often these days. In this struggle against the sameness of life and also my fear of trying out new things I’ve been looking for inspiration. I think i may have found it in Matt Cutts and his “Try something new for 30 days” TED talk which you can watch here.

“The next 30 days are going to pass whether you like it or not, so why not think about something you have always wanted to try and give it a shot for the next 30 days?”

I have a few ideas already. Some of them will remain just ideas in my head. But others can be pursued further. Included in this list are self-discipline challenges i.e. depriving myself of something. However, this comes relatively easy to me. I would prefer to get out of my comfort zone AND do something positive in the process. Ideally, something creative or a community contribution. Whatever the case, i am good with anything that will lift my spirits up. At the end of the day all i am looking for are ideas which will encourage me to see life in a different light and allow some experimentation with everyday life.

“It doesn’t need to be anything huge, either. Something small is easily sustainable, and can still help make your time more memorable, and even help you learn a thing or two about yourself”

Below are the ideas I’ve come up with myself and also found on other blogs. I am looking for more so i am open to suggestions!
