Books in 2013

24 Dec

Following last week’s book stats eye opening exercise i have made the following mini resolutions for the year 2013:

  • Read more female writers (>30%)
  • Read more international writers (>30%)
  • Choose a book with friend, read it at approximately the same pace and discuss it on a regular basis. A mini-book club.
  • Listen to at least 3-5 audiobooks.
  • Ask at least one friend to choose a book for me to read. Preferably something outside my comfort zone.
  • Re-read at least 1 book

Is anyone else setting some reading resolutions for 2013?

Due to work reasons I ended up driving loads between Nicosia/Larnaca/Pafos in the summer of 2012 so I started listening to audiobooks then. Its great experience and certainly made the journeys much shorter! 🙂

I think you can easily listen to 3 audiobooks in a month, so your goal for 3-5 audiobooks in a year will definitely be achieved, specially if you work on your Travel resolution in parallel! 🙂

Start with “Hunger Games” trilogy. I’ve gone through the first two books so far and I recommend them for you! Besides the actual books themselves, the narrator is very good too and it makes a lot of difference!

I am trying to get into audiobooks. I got Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel but i am finding it difficult. For you it makes sense because of the journeys. But in Nicosia you have to find the time to listen to them. Either while doing some light housework or when doing some walking or like you said traveling. Still uncomfortable with solitaire travel.

Maybe i will give Hunger Games a go actually.
