A movie here and there. A TV series begin and a board game played. Slowly, slowly it’s coming back.
- Movies – Contraband with Mark Wahlberg. I like Marky Mark but this is a totally forgettable action movie with no interesting plot, characters nor special effects. Difficult to recommend, neutral at best and that’s pushing it.
- Documentary – This Is Not A Film is something really special.
This clandestine documentary, shot partially on an iPhone and smuggled into France in a cake for a last-minute submission to Cannes, depicts the day-to-day life of acclaimed director Jafar Panahi (Offside, The Circle) during his house arrest in his Tehran apartment. While appealing his sentence – six years in prison and a 20 year ban from filmmaking – Panahi is seen talking to his family and lawyer on the phone, discussing his plight with Mirtahmasb and reflecting on the meaning of the art of filmmaking
- TV Series – After a somewhat disappointing second season, i started watching the third season of Louie. So far I’ve watched the first 2 episodes and fortunately it reminds me of the first season. One of the best comedy shows of the past few years in my opinion.
- Board games – I finally played the much hyped Eclipse. I want to write a dedicated post on it once i’ve played it 1-2 more times. For now, i will just say that i absolutely loved the customizing ships aspect of the game. Fantastically implemented. On the other hand i find that the 3 player game is not fun, unless the players focus on exploration and research. But with the majority of technology being for military ship upgrades it does look a bit pointless to play the game like that. Like i said, more to come from me on this game.
