    Very good quote and also very true. One of my favourite quotes about history is that by a German philosopher Friedrich Hegel: “The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history.” I think it complements very well the quote above.

      I got this from a great little book i read a couple of weeks ago. The Sense of an Ending, by Julian Barnes. It won the Man Booker Prize 2011 and it’s very short (178pages i think). I am actually re-reading it.
