A board game a day – Carcassonne

03 Mar

Carcassonne (60mins, 2-5players)

Much like Settlers of Catan this is one of the most successful board games of all time. Much like Settlers of Catan, i am little burnt out on Carcassonne at the moment. Much like Settlers of Catan i still think this is an excellent game to play with friends and family.

The beauty of this game is watching the “map of Carcassone” grow as people place their tiles thus creating roads, cities, cloisters and farms in the process. A key strentgh of the game is that it’s excellent to play with any number of players between 2 and 5. It just plays differently, especially with 2.

“The players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious.

Features 72 land tiles, which picture city, road, and field segments and cloisters. Also features 40 followers in 5 colours. Each follower can be used as a knight, thief, farmer, or monk. One of each player’s followers is the player’s scoring marker.”
